The Standard & Poor�s 500 is a stock market index that is considered by many to be one of the best representations of the US stock market. It is composed of a weighted average of 500 large companies that have stock listed on NYSE or NASDAQ. The Industrial Production Index (from FRED). Our data come from Wooldridge�s Introductory Econometrics textbook. We have 553 observations of the monthly return on the S&P 500 index (rsp500), the percentage change in industrial production (pcip), the return on 3-month T-bill rate (i3), and other variables from January 1947 to January 1993.
