Providing Care with Limited Reimbursement

Reimbursement provides a critical aspect of healthcare. Many a times, good reimbursement of the caregivers translates[blur] to good services and the vice versa. Whether caregivers lower the quality of the care they give given financial incentives is a question that is yet to be answered. Many researches that have been conducted in this area focus on two wide areas of study namely: the relationship between reimbursement and [/blur]quality of care, and secondly, the mode of reimbursement and how it affects quality.

However, there is a notion that caregivers, for example the registered nurses, should provide care even with limited reimbursement. According to [blur] the nursing code of ethics, nurses should participate in the advancement of the profession by appropriate contribution to the practice by administration, education, and knowledge development. There is barely a provision in the nursing code of ethics that mentions the importance of reimbursement. As much as it is a core factor, professional nurses are discouraged from using it as a determinant in the quality of care provided to patients. Care providers are required by law to provide the best services [/blur]regardless of their current reimbursement.

That put in consideration, it is important to note that limited reimbursement may limit the caregivers because of limited resources. If not properly [blur] reimbursed, registered nurses may lack the necessary resources to give the appropriate care. However, it should not be used as an excuse to provide substandard care. Nurses should therefore struggle [/blur] to provide the best care even with limited reimbursement in adherence to their professional code of conduct.
